The Seine-Nord Europe Canal is a wide-gauge Canal that will link Compiègne in the Oise to Aubencheul-au-Bac in the North. A central link in the Seine-Escaut river link, it will cross Hauts-de-France and allow large barges to travel efficiently between France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Since its inception, the Seine-Nord Europe Canal project has been developed in collaboration with residents, businesses, and local authorities in the Compiègne-Noyon area , the Santerre Haute-Somme region , and the Artois-Cambrésis region . Territory Artois Cambresis

Stretching 28 km through Artois and Cambrésis , the Seine-Nord Europe Canal will partially follow the route of the existing Canal du Nord between Ruyaulcourt and Havrincourt. For the remainder of its length, the Seine-Nord Europe Canal will follow a new route.

From Ytres (62) to Aubencheul-au-Bac (59), the Seine-Nord Europe Canal will cross 13 essentially rural municipalities, close to the urban centers of Arras, Douai and Cambrai.

Territory of Santerre Haute-Somme

The Santerre Haute-Somme region encompasses 45 km of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal, between Ercheu and Equancourt, crossing 26 municipalities. Nesle and Péronne are the two main towns and will each host an inland port. In total, the area crossed by the Seine-Nord Europe Canal has nearly 20,000 inhabitants.

Territory Compiègne Noyonnais

Between Compiègne and Libermont, there are 33,6 km of canal crossing the Oise department. The works have already begun and will continue: roundabouts, quays, widening of the canalized Oise to a larger gauge, development of the Oise river, construction of locks, relocation of the Oise riverbed, widening and deepening of the Canal Latéral à l'Oise or digging of new canals.
