The earthworks for the Oisy-le-Verger lock, which began on March 30th, have required significant resources to shape the platform that will house the future lock. This operation is an essential prerequisite for the construction of the structure: shaping the land and creating a foundation capable of supporting the future infrastructure with optimal stability.
Scheduled until the end of SeptemberThis phase will allow
deliver a platform fully prepared for the start of construction work on the lock, expected by the end of the year.
In parallel, the construction track between the logistics quay of Aubencheul-au-Bac, the lock sites and the future inland port of Marquion-Bourlon, continues to be developed.
Discover in pictures the latest transformations of the site and the progress of this exceptional project, which marks a new stage in the construction of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal.
What comes next?
After this preparation phase, the construction of the Oisy-le-Verger lock will begin with the creation of a watertight enclosure made of concrete walls, called diaphragm walls.
The walls of the lock are dug out using trenches, into which metal reinforcement cages are inserted. Concrete is then poured into the metal cages to form the diaphragm walls and thus create a watertight enclosure.
