Home > News and events > The Noyon quay works are complete
The work on the Noyon quayside has been completed with a rather unusual step: waterproofing the quayside by spraying concrete... underwater.
To recreate a seal at the bottom of the Canal du Nord and stabilize the banks, riprap is carefully placed using a shovel equipped with a clamp. The whole is percolated by a colloidal concrete* type applied with a pump positioned on the platform of the quay.
A diver works underwater to guide the hose during the concrete spraying process, while another takes measurements to ensure the concrete is properly distributed. Watch this process in pictures!
* Colloidal concrete is a type of concrete that can be poured underwater and is cohesive and homogeneous.
