Since the end of October 2024, the inhabitants of the communes crossed by the Canal in the Somme have the opportunity to register and receive a birdhouse to install in their garden. In total, More than 300 people have already volunteered.
Courtesy of SCSNE, These nest boxes and shelters are manufactured and then delivered by two regional ESATs (Work Support Establishments and Services) located in Roye and Allaines. These ESATs are manufacturing all the Canal nest boxes for this second edition, which represents more than 1000 nest boxes in total along the route of the sectors between Passel and Aubencheul-au-Bac.
A great way to promote local know-how while preserving biodiversity around the Canal construction sites.
To learn more about the operation and participate, see the news which presented the device in October 2024: “Residents of the Somme, contribute to the preservation of nature.”
