The Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company (SCSNE) notified this Monday, September 30, the contracts concerning the construction of two works quays, in Noyon in Oise and in Aubencheul-au-Bac in the North. The start of this work is planned for the first quarter of 1.
These docks works will be available to future companies contracted for works, which will have to use it to supply construction sites.
After the quays built in Pimprez and Ribécourt-Dreslincourt in Oise, these are new measures for implementing the materials supply and spoil management plan. This plan, deliberated by the SCSNE Supervisory Board in October 2020, aims to implement everything for low-carbon transport by river or rail for the site.
The contract for the quay works in Noyon was awarded to Charier Génie Civil and Lhotellier Public Works group of companies and will be carried out over a projected period of 8 months.
It is located on the edge of the Canal du Nord, in the Oise department. This works quay consists of a 9,5m wide berthing front on a 100m long quay. It will facilitate the use of the waterway, thus reducing heavy goods vehicle traffic on the roads. It will mainly be used as part of the main works on the Noyon lock. (197m long, 12,5m wide lock with a drop of over 21m). It will be used by companies to transport or evacuate materials, in particular the supply of aggregates for the construction of the Noyon lock.
The group of companies Charier Génie Civil and Lhotellier Travaux publics will launch the preparation of the site over 3 months, and the work will then begin in the first quarter of 1 and will last 2025 months.
The contract concerning the quay works in Aubencheul-au-Bac was awarded to a group of companies Spie Batignolles Nord, Spie Batignolles Valerian and Spie Batignolles Fondations and will be carried out over a projected period of 12 months.
The work to be carried out is located in the commune of Aubencheul-au-Bac, on the large-gauge Sensée canal, in the Nord department (59). This works quay will also facilitate the use of the waterway, thus reducing the environmental impact of the site. It will be used as part of the main works on the Oisy-le-Verger lock (25m drop, one of the highest on the Canal), as well as the works on sector 4 of the Canal (reaches 5, 6 and 7), in particular for the supply of aggregates.
The group of companies Spie Batignolles Nord, Spie Batignolles Valerian and Spie Batignolles Fondations will launch the preparation of the site over 3 months, and the work will then begin in the first quarter of 1 and will last 2025 months.
The Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company has committed to creating favorable conditions for the massification of transport during the construction site. This includes the construction of ten works quays. (total investment of around €20 million) and the introduction of a modal shift clause in works contracts, thus enabling the supply of construction materials to the site partly by boat rather than by road, thereby guaranteeing a reduction in the site's CO2 emissions.
