Submission of the environmental authorization file for the first sector of the CSNE project

Within the framework of the regulations of the Environment Code, the works of the Seine-Nord Europe canal project are subject to environmental authorization under Article L. 181-1 of the Environment Code.

This authorization covers different areas: authorization under the law on water and aquatic environments, derogation from the regulations relating to protected species and clearing authorization.

The file was submitted on April 15, 2019. The environmental authorization instruction must take place over 16 months. It comprises 3 successive phases:

• an examination phase : collection of all the opinions required by the regulations, in particular from the General Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development (CGEDD) and the National Council for the Protection of Nature (CNPN).
• a public inquiry phase, which will be organized by the Prefect of the Oise.
• a decision phase : the decision that can be adopted at the end of the public inquiry is an environmental authorization decree issued pursuant to articles L. 181-1 et seq. of the environment code. This decision is made by the Prefect of the Oise, who will first consult the CODERST (Departmental Council for the Environment and Health and Technological Risks).
