Because you don't build a canal every day and the construction sites of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal are at the heart of the territories and local life, the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe, in partnership with Oise Tourisme and the CC2V, is setting up a first viewpoint to allow all audiences to freely discover the construction site of the Montmacq – Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt lock.
The Montmacq – Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt lock construction site is the first to equip itself with a system allowing the public to discover the progress of the work outside the construction areas , in complete safety and autonomy.
After a walk of just under a kilometer on the towpath of the lateral canal to the Oise from Thourotte, a viewpoint, positioned near the work area, allows you to discover the operations in progress.
Young and old, curious visitors alike can discover the construction site and follow its progress. At the foot of the structure, information panels provide details on the major construction phases, allowing visitors to identify the current stage before their eyes.
Access to the viewpoint is via the bridge over the Oise lateral canal, on rue du Général Mangin in Thourotte (next to the Jean Bouin stadium). It can be used every day, without time restrictions.
All practical information is also available on a detailed walk sheet on the Oise Tourism website.
Access to the viewpoint may be temporarily closed due to construction work or maintenance of the Oise Lateral Canal. In such cases, a notice will be posted on site.
