Home > News and agenda > Opening of the exhibition "the renaturation of the Tortille"
The restoration of the Tortille is emblematic of the environmental approach of the Canal Seine-Nord Europe. This watercourse degraded and artificialized by the arrival of the Canal du Nord will find a more natural hydraulic and ecological regime and will resume its functions as a place of life for the territory. The Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe is devoting an exhibition to the renaturation of the Tortille, which can be visited from June 5 to July 17 in the town hall of Moislains.
From the Haute Borne massif to its confluence with the Somme, the Tortille originally flowed over nearly 20 km in its valley. The Canal du Nord, capturing part of its water supply from the Tortille springs, has profoundly modified the hydraulic functioning of the Tortille. The Seine-Nord Europe Canal, hydraulically neutral, will restore the Tortille to its original sources and recreate living spaces in a natural context around this watercourse.
