Management Controller Assistant on work-study program

The Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe (SCSNE), a local public establishment, is in charge of public project management of the future large-gauge 107 kilometer canal, an essential link in the major European waterway project called Seine-Escaut.

SCSNE is a young company (operational since 2017), dynamic, on a human scale, now with more than 90 employees who, each in their field of expertise, participate in the management and coordination of a major European project combining safety, performance, respect for the environment and innovation.

Within the Management Control – European Funding Mission, you will join a team consisting of a Management Control – European Funding Project Manager and two Management Controllers. You will assist the Project Manager on cross-project issues.

Your mission

Reporting directly to the management control and European financing project manager, your mission will revolve around the following activities:

 

Main activities

  • Contribute to the analysis of costs relating to operations linked to land control of rights-of-way (land development and related works)
  • Assist the project manager in collecting and analyzing costs related to operations prior to the main works such as preventive archaeology, network diversions or environmental works
  • Implement reporting and dashboard tools aimed at informing and clarifying the decisions of the Board of Directors
  • Support the project manager in the dialogue process between the financial department, management control, technical teams and the various professions of the MOA (Project Owner) to analyze and make reliable the volume of information sent to the MOA, in particular that produced by the AMO (Project Owner Assistant)

 

Secondary Activities

  • Within the framework of European funding, participate in work related to the certification of expenditure declarations and financial audits of the European Commission's funding agency (CINEA), the national or European Court of Auditors
  • Work on the development of a tool for monitoring the progress of the technical milestones of the project as part of the management of European financing of the project
  • Contribute to the preparation of cost bodies such as the Financing Agreement Monitoring Committee or the Commitments and Risks Committee

 

This position is based at the SCSNE headquarters in Compiègne (60). It is open to teleworking two days per week.

Your profile

Currently at the end of an engineering cycle or in a Master's/Specialized Master's degree in an engineering school or at the end of a cycle in a business school with a major in corporate finance, management control or project management.

You have knowledge of project management theory and in particular its cost monitoring aspect (earned value method).

Familiar with the fundamentals of corporate finance and management control (concepts of updating, de-discounting, analysis of cost and time gaps, cost breakdown structure (CBS), work breakdown structure (WBS), curve in S, physical progress or cost to completion, etc.).

You are proactive, curious, and creative when it comes to imagining solutions and implementing them. You are rigorous and methodical when it comes to structuring large volumes of technical and financial data.

You are able to analyze contractual and normative documentation.

You have the ability to summarize to produce presentations and dashboards designed to effectively inform the Board of Directors of the project's cost situation.

You are proficient in the main Office software packages, particularly Excel tools and formulas for organizing large volumes of data to perform analyses and synthesize the results obtained.

You have knowledge of writing VBA macros or are motivated to learn.
