The SCSNE at the Spring Festival of the Somme Department

Published on 2 April 2026

On Sunday, March 29, as part of the Somme Department Spring Festival, the Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company (SCSNE) offered the public an immersion in the project, through a guided walk on the site of the Cléry-sur-Somme ponds.

Led by Pierre Thellier, director of environmental development at SCSNE, the walk showcased the extensive program of environmental measures implemented on an 85,3-hectare site in the heart of the Somme Valley . Participants were able to discover the actions undertaken, the improvements already completed , and the principles guiding the integration of the Canal and its structures into the natural environment.

This outing also provided an opportunity to showcase the Somme Canal Bridge , a major structure of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal, which will be built partly in Cléry-sur-Somme, and whose design and construction were recently awarded to the Canalieau consortium. Taking visitors directly to the site was the best way to present this iconic structure firsthand and explain its features.

These exchange sessions will continue soon: the SCSNE teams will be present at the Cléry-sur-Somme flea market on Sunday, April 12 , to continue presenting the project and inviting the public to discover the Somme Canal Bridge.
