The Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe notified the contract concerning the first main works of sector 1 located between Compiègne and Passel. This was assigned to the group NORTH CONFLUENCES, made up of 9 medium-sized companies or SMEs, 2 of which are located in Hauts-de-France. This market will be executed over a provisional period of 26 months for a total amount of nearly 60 million euros excluding tax.

The work planned in the contract

The contract includes three types of work:

  • A new road in Pimprez with a crossing du Canal creating a link between the RD 40 and the RD 932, thus completing the Ribécourt bypass
  • Three new bridges on the RD 66 between Montmacq and Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt successively spanning the Rescindée Oise, the Seine-Nord Europe Canal and the Oise side canal. The two existing bridges over the Oise side canal and the natural Oise will be deconstructed.
  • The displacement of the Oise river : to free up the necessary space for the Seine-Nord Europe Canal between Thourotte and Montmacq, the course of the Oise must be moved eastward. The work to create the new river bed will last 24 months.
    • a section of 650 m downstream, southwest of Montmacq
    • a 2,9 km section between the bridge of the Thourotte – Montmacq municipal road and that of the RD 66 north of Montmacq
  • Two hydraulic structures :
    • a spillway between the new bed of the Oise and the future Canal to contribute to the fight against flooding
    • a buried siphon to pass the Moulinet stream

This work will begin in September 2022.

In parallel with this work, the environmental improvements will resume from mid-September on several sites in the Oise and Verse valleys (Chiry-Ourscamp, Pimprez, Morlincourt, Appilly, Beaurains-lès-Noyon) with the creation of wetlands in particular. These developments, which extend over 165 hectares, were started last winter and are part of the program of nearly 400 hectares of environmental compensatory measures planned in accordance with the environmental authorization for sector 1 issued on April 8, 2021 by the state.
