The Allaines Quay Works contract notified

7 months of work from June 5

The Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe notified the contract concerning the work on the temporary quay in Allaines. This was awarded to GUINTOLI group (leader) / NGE Foundation. This market will run over a provisional period of 7 months for a total amount of nearly 1,5 million euros excluding tax.

The services to be provided by the consortium under this contract are as follows:

  • The construction of a quay wall measuring 100 m in length, located sufficiently set back from the navigation rectangle of the Canal du Nord not to engage the navigation gauge and integrating for this purpose a "berthing rectangle" including the docking devices, the size of the largest boats to accommodate as well as extra safety width.
  • The construction of a storage platform extending over a length of about 140 m and a width of about thirty meters, presenting:
    • A quayside strip about ten meters wide allowing the transhipment of materials;
    • A rear park with a high loading capacity of about twenty meters in width to temporarily store materials.

Work will begin from June 5, 2023.

Favor the river during the construction site

In order to promote supply to the site by river, and thus limit truck traffic, the construction of the Canal Seine-Nord Europe is based on the current navigable infrastructure of the Canal du Nord. Thus, the Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company will develop several quays dedicated to the work of the future Canal located near the Canal du Nord.

In Santerre Haute-Somme, the first of them will be built in Allaines. This may in particular serve the digging site of the Canal and those of the various structures built on and around the route : the Louette water reserve, road restorations, the Allaines lock and the junction lock with the Canal du Nord.
