The 20th anniversary of RTE-T

During a lively round table discussion attended by Sophia Kircher, Member of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the TRAN Committee; Xavier Bertrand, President of the Hauts-de-France Region and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company; Professor Péter Balázs, former European Coordinator of the North Sea-Mediterranean Corridor; Robert de Groot, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank; and Pat Cox, European Coordinator, Scandinavia-Mediterranean Transport Corridor – moderated by Herald Ruijters, former Deputy Director-General for Transport of the EU – the participants examined:

• The political and operational challenges related to the completion of European transport corridors and the core network by 2030,
• The importance of coordinators in advancing cross-border projects,
• The need to ensure sufficient funding to complete the TEN-T and stimulate military mobility,
• How the TEN-T policy can continue to support sustainable, smart and resilient transport infrastructure and EU competitiveness.

Xavier Bertrand had recalled the European Commission's capacity for initiative and definition of a stable coherence framework through legal acts such as the implementing decision relating to the Seine Escaut network of June 27, 2019, revised in 2024 , of which the Seine Escaut project was one of the first in Europe to be the subject.
