The Seine-Nord Europe Canal is committed to preserving the natural spaces and biodiversity of the territory in which it is located. In sector 1, between Compiègne and Passel, 446 hectares of environmental developments will be carried out. To date, 165 hectares have already been the subject of work in favor of biodiversity. Discover, in pictures, some environmental compensation sites in the Oise.
The Avoid-Reduce-Compensate approach aims to avoid impacts on the natural environment, or failing that, to reduce them, and as a last resort, to compensate for them. Numerous measures are therefore integrated into the design and construction choices for the Canal.
The Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company is obligated to maintain the compensation sites for 30 years . Calls for projects will be launched to entrust this long-term management to specialized organizations, which will be funded by the SCSNE for the maintenance of the compensation measures. The long-term effectiveness of the compensation will be assessed, and improvements will be implemented if necessary.
