Home > News and agenda > The CSNE project's environmental observatory takes up its functions
Following the call for applications launched last summer, as part of the new framework set by the SCSNE Directory, the Environmental Observatory had its installation meeting this Friday, January 25, 2019 under the presidency of Guy Fradin, its new president. The latter takes over the management of the work which had been coordinated by Jean Lafont since 2009. The three thematic commissions (Natural spaces and biodiversity; Hydraulics, hydrogeology, waterways; Architecture and landscape), based on the work undertaken since 2009, see around ten new members, notably from the local authorities concerned by the project.
The installation of the environmental observatory meets the eco-performance objective and the environmental ambition of the SCSNE to create a living canal, to control hydraulic impacts and to integrate the project into the territories . The role of the environmental observatory, an independent body, is to produce expertise with a view to monitoring the effects of the project on the environment and to guide project management by anticipating problems and setting an example.
