COMPLETION OF THE PILES OF THE BRIDGE ON THE OISE SIDE CANAL – FROM MARCH 11, 2024

What is it about ?

After the removal of the bridge over the Oise side canal and the demolition of its supports, the construction of the new bridge begins with the installation of the piles. These are reinforced concrete columns, made inside metal tubes buried in the ground which serve as a foundation for the bridge abutments.

How is the work going?

The metal steel tubes are driven into the ground by vibratory driving, then the spoil contained in the tubes is excavated by drilling to pour concrete. These operations, necessary to enable the construction of the bridge, generate vibrations and noise.

How long will the work take?

The work will be carried out alternately on the left bank then on the right bank of the Oise lateral canal from March 11, 2024 and will take place over a period of 2 to 3 weeks. *

* Subject to weather conditions and site hazards.

CAMBRONNE-LÈS-RIBÉCOURT: DEMOLITION OF THE BRIDGE SUPPORTS ON THE OISE SIDE CANAL

What is it about ?
As part of the construction of the 3 bridges on the RD 66 between Montmacq and Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt, the bridge over the Oise Lateral Canal (CLO) is removed by a crane and its supports must be demolished. The space thus freed will allow the construction of the new bridge, in continuity with the two other works on the future Seine-Nord Europe Canal and on the Oise.

When does this work take place?
The demolition of the bridge supports will take place from Monday February 26 for a duration of 2 to 3 weeks*. This work, likely to generate noise or vibrations, will be carried out between 8 a.m. and 18 p.m., within the framework of the schedules provided for by the prefectural environmental authorization order.

How are they made?
A protection device is installed to prevent rubble from falling into the Oise side canal. The bridge supports are then demolished using a mechanical excavator equipped with a kind of jackhammer, called a hydraulic rock breaker (BRH).

* Subject to weather conditions and site hazards.

OISE SIDE CANAL: NAVIGATION ADJUSTMENT AND TEMPORARY CUTOFF ON FEBRUARY 21, 2024

What is it about ?
As part of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal (CSNE) works, the bridge over the Oise lateral canal, located upstream of the Bellerive lock in Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt, must be removed to allow the construction of a new bridge. This operation is scheduled for February 21, 2024 and is the subject of a notice to the inland navigation service.

How does the operation take place?
The company in charge of the work will install a crane and cradles (metal structures to stabilize the bridge during its lifting) on the left bank of the Oise lateral canal. Once these elements are installed, it will lift the structure then place it on an adjacent platform in order to dismantle it.

What is the impact on navigation?
For safety reasons, during the lifting phase of the structure, navigation will be completely interrupted for a period of 2 hours*. In addition, to allow preparation for the operation, including the installation of cradles by crane, the width of the navigation channel could be reduced and specific signage put in place.

*Depending on weather conditions and site hazards.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE RD 40 BIS: DRIVING OF METAL TUBES - PIMPREZ

What is it about ?

Construction of the RD 40 bis bridge continues with the installation of piles. Made up of metal tubes, buried in the ground then filled with concrete, they serve as the foundation for the bridge abutments.

How is the work going?

Here, the metal steel tubes are buried in the ground by driving because the nature of the terrain does not allow the use of the vibratory driving method to anchor them.

These operations generate noise and vibrations but are necessary to allow the construction of the bridge to continue.

Indeed, once the tubes are buried, they are filled with concrete, which then allows the bridge abutments to be mounted on a stabilized base.

How long will the work take?

The driving of the metal tubes will take place, alternately on each side of the bank, from the October 9, 2023 and will last 4 to 5 weeks*. This work is carried out from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m.

Subject to weather conditions and site hazards.

MARCH 22: BEGINNING OF WORK ON THE "RD 40 BIS" BRIDGE - PIMPREZ

What works have been carried out?

Construction work on the "RD 40 bis" bridge began with the installation of sheet piles to support and reinforce the ground of the service road which will be created after the construction of the bridge abutments.

How are they going?

This stage consists of driving large steel sections into the ground by vibro-driving and then, in a second step, carrying out the piling to finalize their anchoring in their ground. If the vibratory driving is hardly perceptible, the driving of the sheet piles generates noise during its realization. It is however necessary to finalize the sinking of the sheet piles.

What is the duration* of the work?

The first sheet pile driving tests took place from March 22 and operations will continue until the end of March.

The work will take place from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m.

MARCH 13 - APRIL 22: MODIFICATION OF THE HOURLY AMPLITUDE OF THE REEL SIPHON WORKS

What changes and for how long?

Construction hours will be extended from 6AM to 22PM over the following periods*:

  • Du March 13 to March 31, 2023 (Saturday included but not Sunday),
  • Du April 17 to April 28, 2023 (Saturday included but not Sunday).

Why are the hours extended?

The creation of this work consists in digging a micro tunnel (with a diameter of approximately 1m), passing under the future Canal Seine-Nord Europe to allow the watercourse of the Moulinet to join the new bed of the Oise. The micro-tunnelling machine – the machine used to build the tunnel – needs to operate over extended hours to progress because, in addition to digging the ground, it also lays the walls of the tunnel, thus making it possible to stabilize it. These operations must be carried out over long amplitudes.
