SHEET PILES INSTALLATION WORK FROM MARCH 3, 2025 - NOYON

What work has been carried out?

The construction of the Noyon quay continues and sheet pile driving will take place
place on the construction site. This step consists of drive large steel profiles into the ground, intended to retain the earth and serve as support for the quay. The sheet pile wall also helps to ensure the watertightness of the Canal walls.

How do they take place?
The technique involves tapping the sheet piles into the ground until they become anchored in the chalk. Sheet piles, measuring 10 to 12 meters long, are driven into the ground by vibration (vibrodriving) and sometimes, depending on the nature of the ground, using a pneumatic hammer. This step generates noise and vibrations in the immediate vicinity of the work.

What is the duration of the work?
The driving of sheet piles, on the 100 linear meters of the Noyon quay, is planned between 3 and 21 March 2025*. The work will take place during the week and during the day only, from 8 a.m. to 17 p.m.*.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE RD 40 BIS: DRIVING OF METAL TUBES - PIMPREZ

What is it about ?

Construction of the RD 40 bis bridge continues with the installation of piles. Made up of metal tubes, buried in the ground then filled with concrete, they serve as the foundation for the bridge abutments.

How is the work going?

Here, the metal steel tubes are buried in the ground by driving because the nature of the terrain does not allow the use of the vibratory driving method to anchor them.

These operations generate noise and vibrations but are necessary to allow the construction of the bridge to continue.

Indeed, once the tubes are buried, they are filled with concrete, which then allows the bridge abutments to be mounted on a stabilized base.

TRUCK TRAFFIC THIS SUMMER - MONTMACQ / RIBÉCOURT-DRESLINCOURT

What is it about ?
As part of the work on the Seine-Nord Europe Canal (CSNE), four structures are under construction: the three RD 66 bridges between Montmacq and Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt and the "RD 40 bis" bridge between Ribécourt-Dreslincourt and Pimprez.
In order to continue the operations on these works, materials are necessary, in particular for the construction of the ramps of the bridges and must be transported from the construction site of the digging of the new bed of the Oise. Truck rotations (road tractors with semi-trailers) transporting an average of 20 tonnes of materials will therefore be carried out between Montmacq and Ribécourt-Dreslincourt.

When are the trucks going?
The movement of trucks between the CSNE worksites will begin this summer and will continue
until the end of the year*.

JUNE 26 – 30, 2023: DRILLING OF METALLIC TUBES - MONTMACQ

What is it about ?

As part of the work to rescinde the Oise, a temporary bridge has been put in place over the Matz to allow construction machinery to cross this watercourse, flowing from the Oise river. To make the foundations and supports for this bridge, metal tubes of about 15 meters must be driven into the ground.

How long does this work take?

The beating of the metal tubes will be carried out discontinuously over a period of 2 to 3 days between June 26 and 30, 2023*, during the usual hours of the site, from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 18 p.m.

How are metal tubes installed?

As with sheet pile driving, the tubes will be driven into the ground using a pneumatic hammer or vibratory hammer type machine.

Why does work take place outside working days?

As part of the work to rescinde the Oise and the construction of the Siphon du Moulinet, certain operations require the maintenance of activity on the site over extended periods or are dependent on weather conditions. For these reasons, the company in charge of the works sometimes needs to intervene on Saturdays or public holidays.

What days and work are involved?

Thursday, May 18, 2023*: earthworks for the rescindement of the Oise and digging of the Siphon du Moulinet.

The Saturdays June 3 and 17, 2023*: digging works for the Siphon du Moulinet.

In the coming months, other operations will take place on the site, between Montmacq and Cambronne-lès-Ribécourt, on Saturdays or on public holidays. We will inform you when these works will have an impact on traffic or the generation of noise.

MARCH 22: BEGINNING OF WORK ON THE "RD 40 BIS" BRIDGE - PIMPREZ

What works have been carried out?

Construction work on the "RD 40 bis" bridge began with the installation of sheet piles to support and reinforce the ground of the service road which will be created after the construction of the bridge abutments.

How are they going?

This stage consists of driving large steel sections into the ground by vibro-driving and then, in a second step, carrying out the piling to finalize their anchoring in their ground. If the vibratory driving is hardly perceptible, the driving of the sheet piles generates noise during its realization. It is however necessary to finalize the sinking of the sheet piles.

What is the duration* of the work?

The first sheet pile driving tests took place from March 22 and operations will continue until the end of March.

The work will take place from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m.

* Under adverse weather conditions and site hazards

MARCH 13 - APRIL 22: MODIFICATION OF THE HOURLY AMPLITUDE OF THE REEL SIPHON WORKS

What changes and for how long?

Construction hours will be extended from 6AM to 22PM over the following periods*:

  • Du March 13 to March 31, 2023 (Saturday included but not Sunday),
  • Du April 17 to April 28, 2023 (Saturday included but not Sunday).

Why are the hours extended?

The creation of this work consists in digging a micro tunnel (with a diameter of approximately 1m), passing under the future Canal Seine-Nord Europe to allow the watercourse of the Moulinet to join the new bed of the Oise. The micro-tunnelling machine – the machine used to build the tunnel – needs to operate over extended hours to progress because, in addition to digging the ground, it also lays the walls of the tunnel, thus making it possible to stabilize it. These operations must be carried out over long amplitudes.
