What work is being done?
In Aubencheul-au-Bac (59), the construction of the temporary quay on the Sensée canal requires the installation of very long steel profiles (called sheet piles) in the ground to support the quay, stabilize the ground and ensure watertightness with the banks of the existing canal.
How do they take place?
The technical solution chosen is that of vibrating, which involves driving the sheet piles into the ground using a vibrator attached to a machine. The vibrations induced reduce friction between the ground and the sheet pile and facilitate its driving, while minimizing noise pollution. This is the least noisy method for local residents.
However, if teams encounter difficulties with this method, they will have to resort to sheet pile driving.
How long will the work take?*
The works start on March 19 and will last until May 7, 2025. They take place on working days and hours of the week, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 13 p.m. to 17 p.m.
*subject to weather conditions and construction site hazards.
What are the implications?
For safety reasons, during the construction period, the service road along the south bank of the Sensée (Aubencheul-au-Bac side) will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists. We thank you for respecting the markings in place.
To be continued…
Following the installation of the sheet piles in the ground, the platform of the quay will be reinforced by rigid inclusion, the girders and tie rods will be put in place to maintain the solid structure and then the quay will be terraced. Finally, the finishing and equipment work on the quay can be carried out.

What work is being done?
In Aubencheul-au-Bac (59), construction work on the temporary works quay is starting on the Sensée Canal, at the intersection with the future Seine-Nord Europe Canal. This quay will make it possible to supply the Oisy-le Verger lock construction site with construction materials by barge rather than by road, thus reducing CO2 emissions.
How do they take place?
First, a preparatory phase will consist of excavating, i.e. removing earth, to create a structure on which the machines can circulate. Then, long steel profiles (called sheet piles) will be inserted into the ground. These sheet piles will constitute the structure of the quay. Finally, the earthworks for the quay can be carried out.
How long will the work take?*
Work will begin on February 3 and end in September 2025.
They will be carried out on working days and hours of the week (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 13 p.m. to 17 p.m.).
*subject to weather conditions and construction site hazards.

What is it about ?
The environmental authorization, issued by the State services on August 9, allows work to begin on sectors 2 to 4 of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal route. Among the first operations, work to free up rights-of-way (network diversions,
demolitions, deforestation) will take place on the territory, including initial deforestation in the communes of Oisy-le-Verger (Pas-de-Calais) and Aubencheul-au-Bac (Nord).
What does this work consist of?
The clearing is being carried out in order to free up the land upstream of the future earthworks for the Oisy-le-Verger lock and the construction of the Aubencheul-au-Bac works quay (see map on the back).
When will these interventions take place?
Deforestation operations will begin on October 21, for an expected duration
three weeks*. They will take place during working hours of the week, without impacting traffic.
*Subject to weather conditions and construction site hazards.
Did you know?
The implementation of the CSNE is part of the ERC (avoid-reduce-compensate) approach which governs the project by taking into account the impacts on fauna and flora.
Around 240 hectares of compensatory developments (wetlands, woodlands, ponds, hedges, etc.), spread over 5 sites, are thus planned in Artois-Cambrésis.
Beyond ecological equivalence, these developments ultimately aim to increase biodiversity. The details of this program, developed in consultation with local stakeholders, were presented during the public environmental inquiry into the Seine-Nord Europe Canal and are still available online on the project website.

What work has been carried out?
Sanef is carrying out the construction of a crossing structure for the future Seine-Nord Europe Canal on the A2 motorway, near the municipalities of Ytres and Ruyaulcourt (62).
How do they take place?
The operations take place in three main phases:
How long will the work take*?
Work began at the end of September and will continue until 2027.
* Subject to weather conditions and site hazards.
What works are carried out?
In Ytres, Ruyaulcourt, Hermies and Oisy-le-Verger, work prior to the construction of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal is continuing and preventive archeology operations are being carried out in order to ensure knowledge and even the preservation of potentially
present in the soil.
How do they take place?
Firstly, areas of around 10 meters wide located along the Canal route are partially deforested. These operations are supervised by an ecologist and carried out during periods of wildlife inactivity in order to preserve it. This stage of the work is essential to allow archaeologists to then carry out their diagnostics.
How long will the work take*?
Preparatory work begins on March 4 and should last a week in the municipalities of Ruyaulcourt and Hermies.
They take place during working hours of the week and have no impact on traffic.
* Subject to weather conditions and site hazards.

What works are carried out?
As part of the construction of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal, more than 1100 hectares of plantations and environmental developments will be carried out. They will make it possible to offset the impacts of the project on the environment and promote the development of biodiversity in the region.
In Oisy-le-Verger, the work aims to create a pond and restore a megaphorbia (wet area populated with large perennial grasses that can reach several meters in height).
How do they take place?
During the construction period, excavated earth evacuation trucks will circulate:
