SHEET PILE INSTALLATION WORKS - ALLAINES (August 2023)

What works are carried out?

The construction of the temporary quay for the works of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal in Allaines, on the edge of the Canal du Nord, requires the installation of sheet piles in the ground to support the quay, stabilize the ground and ensure the sealing of the walls of the Canal. . In June 2023, a preliminary phase of sheet piling tests took place. It made it possible to determine the work technique best suited to the characteristics of the terrain. Following this, construction work on this wharf will begin with the installation of the first sheet pile curtain.

How do they take place?

At the end of the test phase in June, the vibro-sinking technique was chosen: this is the least noisy method for local residents.

In case of difficulty, the threshing (which generates more noise) can be used occasionally, as a last resort.

How long does this work take?

Installation of the main sheet pile wall will take place from August 8 to 25, 2023*, Monday to Friday (except Tuesday August 15), daytime from 7:30 a.m. to 19 p.m.

* Subject to weather conditions and site hazards.
