The Director of the UniLaSalle Polytechnic Institute, Philippe Choquet, and the Chairman of the Management Board of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe (SCSNE), Jérôme Dezobry, signed a partnership agreement this Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Beauvais.
This agreement falls within the framework established in 2017 by the SCSNE Supervisory Board, chaired by Xavier Bertrand, to forge partnerships with higher education institutions in the Hauts-de-France region. These partnerships demonstrate the commitment to integrating all the region's key stakeholders, particularly the education sector, into the unique opportunity offered by Europe to develop a river infrastructure that contributes to the decarbonization of transport.
The partnership between UniLaSalle, a school training future engineers, bachelors and veterinarians, at the heart of the transitions uniting the Life Sciences, Earth, Environment, Energy & Digital, and the SCSNE, project owner of the Canal Seine-Nord Europe, will offer study and internship opportunities to all students, who will be the workers of tomorrow.
“ We are delighted to be working with the Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company. The future canal will be a major transport artery of the 21st century, both economically and in terms of its crucial role in promoting sustainable development, ” said Philippe Choquet . “ The Seine-Nord Europe Canal is a flagship project for the region, and we are convinced that it will play a significant role in reducing our region’s carbon footprint. We look forward to working with the SCSNE team to develop new and innovative projects with our students in the fields of geology, bioeconomy, and renewable energy. ”
“ We are proud of this partnership, which will allow us to work with the students and teaching staff of UniLaSalle. The Seine-Nord Europe Canal is a major project for the region, France, and Europe, and its stakes in terms of innovation and sustainable development are paramount. We are convinced that this collaboration will allow us to find innovative solutions to the challenges posed and to make the Hauts-de-France region a pioneering territory! ” adds Jérôme Dezobry , Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company.
This partnership, designed with a long-term perspective, will allow the development of advantages both for UniLaSalle and for the SCSNE. With this partnership, the Institut Polytechnique UniLaSalle, a major school specializing in geology in particular, provides its students with a wealth of data and study subjects on which they can put the teaching they receive to good use.
For its part, the SCSNE will benefit from the research work of the students and their educational team to put into perspective the ecological, technological, economic, societal and territorial issues of the Canal Seine-Nord Europe.
The expected works within the framework of this collaboration are as follows:
This partnership also brings perspectives in the development of multi-stakeholder and collaborative research projects and internship opportunities for UniLaSalle students.
