Regional companies at the helm

Published on September 19 2025

The Seine-Nord Europe Canal represents important business opportunities for many sectors of activity. Among them, many companies from Hauts-de-France have already seized the opportunity by winning contracts* or by positioning themselves as subcontractors. This involvement of regional companies is the concrete translation of the desire of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe and its partners to ensure that the economic and social benefits of the Canal benefit the region as much as possible.

Hauts-de-France companies well represented

With 45 companies mobilized on the Canal markets (agents and co-contractors) during the 2rd quarter 2025 (i.e. 37%), having their headquarters or a local agency in Hauts-de-France, regional companies occupy a prominent place in the design and construction of the Canal.

For example, we can cite the company Medinger Fils SA located in Amblainville (Oise), which built one of the first two roundabouts on the Canal, in Oise, in 2021. Or the company SPIE Batignolles Nord located in Calais (Pas-de-Calais), which is currently finalizing the quayside works at Aubencheul-au-Bac, in the North.

Without forgetting the companies of the LHOTELLIER group, Oise TP based in Beauvais and the STAG agency located in Longueau (Somme), which intervened respectively in the market for bridges built in the Oise and on the Noyon quayside works.

More recently, it is theHydram SAS company, located in Rosult (North) which has been awarded the construction, from autumn 2025, of ecological ponds in the Somme.

37%

of companies (agents and co-contractors) mobilized on the Canal markets are from Hauts-de-France, as of June 30, 2025

Many regional companies are taking part in the Seine-Nord Europe Canal and are making a name for themselves in as many areas as there are markets (studies, preparatory work such as preventive archaeology work or clearance of rights of way, environmental developments and construction work).

Regional companies also contribute to the construction of the Canal as subcontractors. Among them :

  • Businesses Ramery Construction (Pas-de-Calais) and Satelec (North) mobilized on the market of the Montmacq lock, in Oise,
  • The company Sylva Bois (Oise) having carried out part of the work to implement ecological measures in Compiégnois-Noyonnais,
  • The company SAFE (North), geotechnical design office, mobilized on the development work of the Allaines quayside in the Somme.

In the market for the re-splitting of the Oise and the construction of the four bridges on the RD66 and RD40bis, for example, nine companies from the region contributed as subcontractors.

Canal Entreprises, a system to support businesses

To support regional companies in these business opportunities, the Hauts-de-France Region and the Hauts-de-France CCI are piloting Business Channel, one of the 5 devices of the major project approach.

Their objectives?

  • Inform companies in current and future public markets,
  • Provide tailor-made tools and assistance to companies that request it,
  • Maintain an ongoing dialogue and open with businesses.

Since 2021, the Canal Entreprises system has supported 384 companies (as of June 30, 2025).

CCI Business Hauts-de-France, a digital platform serving businesses

By informing its subscribers about SCSNE news, events and business opportunities, the “Canal Seine-Nord Europe” community of the CCI Business Hauts-de-France platform connects regional businesses with the project owner. CCI Business's in-depth knowledge of regional issues and this visibility into future markets offers companies the opportunity to anticipate in order to best respond to consultations.
