The new riverbed of the Oise north of Montmacq respects the natural characteristics of the river's course (slope, meanders, width, etc.) while promoting the creation of areas conducive to biodiversity. The channelization work is being carried out in four stages.
The new bed is dug east of the current Oise. The water from the water table rises quickly.
Connections are opened between the two beds. The river gradually borrows its new bed.
The old arms are cut by dams. The aquatic fauna is fished and then released in the new bed.
The earth from the excavation is used to backfill the old bed pending the development of the Canal.
