The Seine-Nord Europe Canal Company, the Departments of Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais, Somme, Aisne and Val d'Oise, partners in the Major Construction Project approach Canal Seine-Nord Europe, are committed to the integration of people through economic activity.

Xavier Bertrand, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe (SCSNE), Jean Claude Leroy, President of the Department of Pas-de-Calais, Marie-Christine Cavecchi, President of the Department of Val d’Oise, Jean-Rene Lecerf, President of the Northern Department (represented by Arnaud Decagny, vice president infrastructure), Nadège Lefèbvre, President of the Department of Oise (represented by Sandrine De Figueiro, vice-president responsible for social action and integration policy), Lawrence Somon, President of the Somme Department (represented by Philippe Varlet, Vice-President responsible for territorial development linked to the Seine Nord Europe Canal project), Nicolas Fricoteaux, President of the Department of Aisne (represented by Carole Deruy, President of the Social Affairs, Solidarity, Autonomy and Integration commission),

signed on February 28, 2019, as part of the Grand Chantier approach, the “Canal Solidaire” agreement to concretize their commitment to making the Canal Seine-Nord Europe project a great opportunity for the integration of people through economic activity .

The “Solidarity Canal” agreement is part of the “Solidarity Canal” system. This innovative system promotes the implementation of an integration clause through economic activity (CIAE) within a maximum of public contracts intended for the construction of the future Seine-Nord Europe Canal.
The CIAE thus offers the possibility to people engaged in an integration path towards sustainable employment to consolidate and finalize their professional project, in collaboration with the companies awarded contracts.

These are currently 13 beneficiaries working in 9 companies. Among them: long-term job seekers, beneficiaries of minimum social benefits, young people without experience or qualifications, etc.

In total, 13 343 hours were carried out, i.e. a volume 5 times greater than the objectives initially set by the company for this stage of the project.
