The Canal is off to the Oise!

Review of a great day for the Seine-Nord Europe Canal this Thursday, October 13, with several milestones for the project, in the Oise!

The institutional kick-off for the construction of the Canal in the Oise was given on the site of the rescinding of the Oise river in Montmacq, with the first symbolic shovels. The event led by the president and vice-president of the Supervisory Board of the SCSNE, Xavier Bertrand, president of the Hauts-de-France Region and Nadège Lefebvre, president of the Oise Departmental Council brought together many other elected officials and actors representing the State and communities.

A new Canal trades forum was held all day in Compiègne, place d'Armes, at the initiative of local employment partners. It was an opportunity for residents and businesses to discuss and make contact about jobs related to the construction of the Canal: up to 6 jobs are expected at the height of the construction sites!

The Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe and the Regional Federation of Public Works (FRTP) of Hauts-de-France signed an agreement on October 13, 2022 aimed at promoting public works trades thanks to this historic site and to give regular to SMEs, information on safety and prevention.

The day ended with a departmental public meeting in Compiègne, around Xavier Bertrand and the elected officials and representatives of the territory. More than a hundred participants were able to discuss with the SCSNE teams who came to detail the contours of the Canal in the Oise, explain the work in progress and to come, and address essential themes such as the environment, at the heart of the project. .
