The Canal Seine-Nord Europe, the board departmental department of the Somme, the community of Haute-Somme communes and the town hall of Cléry-sur-Somme have joined forces to create a bird discovery trail, inaugurated on Monday, October 28, 2019 in Cléry-Sur-Somme. This partnership results from the determination of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe to build an exemplary canal from an environmental point of view, and to do so, to surround itself with the best technical skills for the management of compensation sites.
The 85 hectares acquired or in the process of being acquired near the future Somme canal bridge are part of a larger area, owned by the Somme department.
This bird discovery trail is of ecological interest, particularly given the presence of migratory and reproductive species at stake: Little Bittern, Perregarin Tern, Miloin Scaup, Tufted Scaup, Black-necked Grebe, etc.
